Oh Man Are These Podcasts Late!

It’s crazy!

And what’s really silly is that we knew that there were going to be problems, and yet we assumed we’d find some way to sneak in a podcast. I was out of town, and then there were dudes tearing the roof off our studio, and then Cabel was out of town, and that is all the excuses.

Long story short, we will be back next week! For now, enjoy the most awkward commercial! Seriously, this shit freaks me RTFO.

Season 2: Episode 2: “Noir” is French for “Black”

Season 2: Episode 2: “Noir” is French for “Black”

Twas a good week to be a Vestryman, we loved everything we read. Go buy it all now!

Quick Reviews:

Harvest #1

WRITTEN BY: A.J. Lieberman
ART BY: Colin Lorimer
PUBLISHER: Image
RELEASE: August 1st

We rather liked this book, but found it a tad cliched. We agreed about how we felt about it. I’m not just saying that ‘cuz I get to write the blog posts, not at all.

Hawkeye #1

WRITTEN BY: Matt Fraction
ART BY: David Aja
PUBLISHER: Marvel Comics
RELEASE: August 1st

Matt Fraction is a old Vestrymen favorite, and he does a good job here. Also apparently the only thing keeping Hawkeye from straight killing bitches is that he really likes Steve Rodgers.

Batman Incorporated: #1

WRITTEN BY: Grant Morison
ART BY: Chris Burnham
PUBLISHER: DC Comics
RELEASE: May 23

We like it. Its not quite Batman Inc but its fun, and frenetic, and driven and smart.  We might have to do a point-on-point review of it, since we disagree about some of the details of what worked and what didn’t.

Batman Incorporated #2

WRITTEN BY:  Grant Morison
ART BY: Chris Burnham
PUBLISHER: Dc Comics
RELEASE: June 27

I like this book more than Leland, I think, at the end of the day, and that might have something to do with the fact that I like Talia Al’Gul more than he does. Also she is stone sexy and badass in this book, if straight evil. The cover makes my head hurt.

Our Feature:

Sub-Mariner: The Depths

WRITTEN BY: Peter Milligan
ART BY: Esad Ribic
PUBLISHER: Marvel (Marvel Knights Imprint)

I’m going to take this time to talk about how much I like most of the new Marvel Knights stuff, since it became Marvel’s functional “Elseworlds” imprint. Marvel has used this imprint to get awesome creators to do high quality work, passion projects. I like passion projects, they are usually very, very good. This one is too. Listen to the podcast to find out why. Also, its Hemingway. He wrote Old Man and The Sea. We know that, we are not that dumb.
